It is a well known fact that flush toilets for women, spaced conveniently apart, along the major trails provided sanitary and comfortable places for the well bred lady to retire when she sought her privacy. When the weather cooled, there was an automatic thrermostat that kept the seat at a pleasant temperature. Clean water, lavender soap, and pastel coloured soft paper also assisted the refined woman of the goldrush in her ablutions. Friendly female staff were also on hand to lend any assistance and provide a number of services. These services included advice addressing issues as cosmetic use and hair styling. Also, there were lots of 'Cosmopolitan' magazines to distract them from the otherwise dusty, uncomfortable and often dangerous trek they were undertaking. I hoped this helped.

Believe it or not. Most wemon of the gold rush wore trousers just like the men. And had to do the same as them. Squat behind a bush, tree, rock or what ever was handy. It was the fortunate ones who had privies (out house) since most of the miners moved from place to place. They went where the gold was.

Women on the gold rush used mother nature,or the privacy of the woods(nature}.Sometimes their husbands built them an impromptu make shift toilet out of wood or branches, and sometimes their husbands dug them a hole and covered the BM(Bowe Movement)or (Refuse)with dirt.
