Dual core processors are like two processors in one unit. It makes running applications very fast. Those specs sound good enough to play battlefield and definitely ok for Vista. Intel core 2 duo is a very powerful processor, so you'll be happy. Video card is decent but might wanna try and get the 7900GS if that's an option. If not, what you have is fine.

ok ansii picture time:

ok assume that is a (much much much simpler) diagram of ur cpu or "Processor." Normally a string of data such as say windows multimedia player goes through it and the cpu takes all the 1's and 0's and "processes" it to more meaningful computer languages. now say i want to play Generals and listen to my song, normally they would both take turns going through the processor resulting in "lag" or repeated stopping as it tries to catch up on the programs. However with a Dual Core you have 2 "stacks" or cores or the above diagrams, this allows you to run two programs at a dedicate line allowing you to compute just as fast as your memory let's you.

and as far as i know it has no compatbility issues but windows vista does at the moment have major issues with games...

I can tell you three things:-

1) they are dual
2) they have a core
3) they are processors
