Hello there and well done for chosing Jardin Del Mar, it's one of the best hotels in the area in terms of location, quality and standards. If you haven't done it already, I would strongly suggest you upgrade to a sea view room as it's well worth the extra. The views in sea view are beautiful-
The rooms although not big, are clean and well maintained as is the swimming pool- it will get crowded in high season so beware.
Location is excellent with plenty of Bars and restaurants within a 1-2 minute walk away. Tip for good a breakfast would be "The Royal Garden Restaurant" facing the supermarket on the corner you can get a full english breakfast (as they called it) but it was actually like an Irish breakfast. Nevertheless, it was very nice.

In the evening try the El Jardin which would is half way up the hill from the supermarket if you like steaks and pizzas.
If you go to the Square the entertainment is very good each night it's usually a different artist- take offs of The Drifters, Abba, Robbie Williams etc, but be aware that it's full of families with children- If you don't have kids, I'd say they'll drive you mad!

As for the mozzies, well I'm pretty sure the hotel is air-conditioned which usually means the mozzies won't be a problem Mosquitos don't like the cool air from the a/c so inside your room/apt, it shouldn't be a problem if you keep your room cool. I'd reccomend a plug-in device to keep your room mosquito free.
Mostly mosquitos breed and are found wherever there is stagnant water nearby and of course Santa Ponsa does have a very large sewage plant and this is exactly the environment mozzies love.
I know that last year was particularly bad because the island was not being sprayed with insecticide. This was because of environmentalists complaining about pollution, if they get their way again this year I'm sure it will be an ongoing problem.

All you can do is take "jungle strength" insect repellant- make sure you wear it especially in the evening. Avoid perfumes which may attract them and I'd also say take plenty of spray with you so that if you're sitting outside you can spray underneath the table (they go for the ankes and legs in particular)

I don't think you will be able to avoid them totally especially if the spraying isn't allowed, but you can try and minimize the bites!

Good luck!
