No. Bettas are warm water fish, and goldfish are cold water fish. Goldfish are also nippy, and will tear the bettas fins.

goldfish are not a good choice because they produce a lot of ammonia and prefer cold water, as people have said here.
you can have fish with bettas, they just have to be the right kind. your main problem isn't bettas attacking, but rather choosing fish that won't attack you betta. first you need to make sure you're tank is okay for the fish, you'll need at least a 10gallon (anything under a 10gallon with a filter should only have snails as a tankmate), and while it doens't need to be cycled for a betta because they're quite hearty, other fish will suffer if you don't cycle the tank first, for more information on cycling, check here:
http://www.google.com/search?q=fishless+cycling&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
*you'll want a filter that doesn't cause too much of a current, but is enough to clean the tank, so for a 10gallon tank you'd probably want a filter for a 5gallon tank.
*a temp around 78°F-80°F
*lots of SILK or real plants, the betta needs to be able to hide form the fish and vise versa, plastic plants can tear betta's fins.
now good tank mates include:
*most tetras, but they tend to nip fins, so try for slower tetras and when picking them out look for ones that aren't bothering other fish
*mollie
*platies
and most non aggressive tropicals that don't have flashy long fins. danios tend to be too fast and hog all the food, plus nip fins. barbs and such also tend to be fin nippers, but other than that most tropicals are okay as long as they can't be mistaken for a bettas and aren't aggressive. also keep in mind how many your tank can hold, for a 10 gallon no more than 4 or 5 more fish with a betta. for a 15 gallon no more than 10 fish. you need to figure how much waste and such your tank can handle, plus enough room for the betta to consider his "territory"

I can depend. Goldfish should be in a goldfish tank only as they release alot of ammonia in the water in which other tropical fish can not tolerate. As with the beta fish you can try it with other types of tropical fish but some such as barbs, danios, and some tetras may tear the long fins on the beta. So it may just be better to have a fish tank with a beta bowl on the side. Good luck

Betta fish are aggressive to a point. You can put them with gold fish and they'll do OK. If you want to add more fish just remember a good rule of thumb is to put aggressive with aggressive and passive with passive. Other wise you're going to end up with allot of dead fish. Most fish however will bite the fins off a Betta This includes goldfish. Fish will eat fish that's just a fact of life. They prefer to be alone. Hope this helps...

Yes! Betas are great fish to have, so beautiful. They can live with any other type of fish, just not each other.

There are some types of goldfish that are non-aggressive - they will get along with a beta fine. Beta/beta will not work.
