Some girl in my class. She keeps talking about how some of the things teacher is talking about in class, she learned it in high school or middle school. She keeps on talking about "ME ME ME", how she achieve and she is smart on whatever.

First of all, she was born in here. Went to Elementary school until high school. She learned from her mistakes.

And me, I started school from middle and I didn't even know how to speak English. I had this after school class for extra help. Now, I'm in college and I know most of the stuff but you don't see me talking about how I achieve in things.

But I don't want to be rude and say "Shut up".

A friend of mine has a guy like that in her graduate program and she has to carpool with him twice a week (it's an hour drive to the university). She mostly ignores him, though sometimes she challenges him on his views. Since it doesn't seem like you have to spend as much time with this person, ignore them and sit elsewhere. Saying something will only make them talk more because she'll feel the need to defend her actions. Know it all braggarts are a part of life, and as I found, especially in university. They feel the need to spout crap to make up for their lack of real knowledge. Sit as far away and tune her out. When she has no one to sit with, she will eventually get the point! Good luck with your studies and best wishes!

Go ahead and tell her! Don't be afraid to put someone in their place. At first you can be nice about it and the next time she starts up just be like "look, we all achieve things but you don't hear us...please....thank you...etc." and if she doesnt stop THEN be a little more assertive, plus you would be doing her and others a favor if other people are annoyed as well. Good luck!

I've had students in my class who will tell their classmate to "shut up." Others will come to me privately to voice their concerns, and then I'll speak with that person. This is how you might want to handle the situation if you feel uncomfortable with talking to the student directly.

Just find somewhere else to sit in the classroom. She'll get the hint and go brag to someone else.

welcome to college...you will find all kinds of people you will have to learn to deal with, it is almost more important than some of your classes...just bite your lip and let it go...eventually someone will do exactly what you feel like doing...she probably came form a family or town where no one listened to her or took her seriously...or maybe she has always been annoying...let it go and just do what you have to do...
