Now don't get upset but if you look at all the top positions in life namely politics, CEOs of top organisations etc. they are usually men not women. Also if you look at the top chess players there is only one women in the top 10 (why isn't a women ever no 1 after all it's brain power not muscle power). Let me know your views on this subject.

First of all, you cannot use career choice to judge something as complex as intelligence. There are many people who are more intelligent than politicians, but lack the skills necessary to be a politician/CEO. There are also highly intelligent/clever people who are do not utilize their abilities and therefore amount to very little. There are many different types of intelligence as well. Some people have very good logical/cognitive function, but cannot write/read very well. Because of this, the correct question to ask is "Why are men more successful in politics?" The answer to this question is that in today's society, we are still transitioning from a time in which women did not have careers at all. Women are still expected to raise children and care for a family and that is what many choose to do. Politics is a field that requires a lot of time and dedication. It is very difficult to raise children and be a politician. However, as our society evolves, there will be many more women in the top ten.

And by the way Mr. Man, "cleverer" is not a word. "More clever" is the correct term.

I honestly wouldn't describe any man I know as clever that seems to imply an agenda actually my husband has had more trouble in the corporate world with women who aren't doing there jobs right throwing other people under the bus...so to speak. These same women who play the "game" allot better then men have had significantly better advancement in their careers. For what I beleive is bad behavior. The men around these women don't even stand a chance...I'd be careful saying that outloud anywhere near your job because Lynn is right "you won't even know what hit you!" The women will quietly outsmart you everytime! I actually sometimes feel sorry for men that they have such a weak spot for women. Men can be so easily manipulated...women must use their powers for good not evil...haha!

Because women don't waste their time with games and competitive testosterone induced careers. We are far more clever than you give us credit. We put you in those positions because they are high stressors. It makes the males weak and they die....hence we live longer and DOMINATE.

We play the part of the weak and defenseless but beware...it is an act. We will do what we must to steer you in the direction we want you to go. You will believe that every decision you make is because you thought it was a good idea.

Such squishy men, easily molded to bow down to our every whim. You never knew what hit you. Resistance is futile.

If they are so much "smarter" why is it that about 90% of Darwin Awards are given to men?!! I mean winning chess is NOT a huge deal mebbe women just spend more time on other useful things than practicing their chess moves!

Because women are helping the population to increase otherwise we would die out. This job is much more stressful then any CEO position.

It doesn't mean that men are smarter it's just they don't have the risk of getting pregnant.

I think a lot of them get sidetracked and have babies and care more about their upbringing to get involved.

Others send their kids to daycare or just don't have them and get good paying jobs to support the lazy husband?

Your question is based entirely on a false assumption. You conclude that women are intellectually inferior because they occupy few top-ranking positions in business and politics. However, you fail to consider other crucial factors that may be responsible for women's lack of status, such as SEXISM.

Despite numerous advances in civil rights, almost every society in the world is patriarchal in nature. In America, on average, women still earn about 30% less than men for doing the same job. We are still prevented from starting out on an equal level with men.

Women face obstacles that men will never experience. They are often required to "prove" themselves in the workplace, simply because they are women. Moreover, they frequently contend with opposition from other women, who are sometimes more brutally competitive and spiteful than their male colleagues.

As if all of this weren't enough, women are most often the family members who provide care for children and elderly relatives, which can greatly hamper their careers.

Your question is erroneous on another level, because you assume that there is only one kind of intelligence, and only one kind of power.

Chess is a war game, focusing on logic and strategic planning.
Just because someone may not excel at chess, does not mean they lack intelligence. They may be brilliant at spacial organization or analysis, or any number of other pursuits. Different does not mean inferior.

This is true of power as well. Throughout history, women always exerted influence and occupied leadership positions that were less visible, hidden under the surface.

External power has always been the domain of men, but women are usually the ones orchestrating things behind the scenes. Their activities often go unnoticed, leading to questions such as yours.

Men have traditionally forced women to occupy less visible roles in society, impeding and even banning them from participation in the public sphere, including the areas of politics and business. Women's power, then, is unsanctioned and unseen, but it is still there.

Men, as a whole, have done everything they can to subjugate women and keep all positions of external power for themselves. Like all power-seekers, they try to justify their illegitimate actions, grasping for some form of a valid explanation.

Men have seized all or most of the visible, external, power. This becomes a justification in itself. Men must be more clever, because they have all the visible power, right?

Wrong. This false argument has been employed in the past to prevent women and minorities from voting, and to deny them other rights.

Slaver owners even used this way of thinking to defend their heinous and abusive practices. White people must be superior, because they didn't get enslaved, right? In other words, slaves deserve to be slaves, because they ARE slaves. This is totally ridiculous.

I have one final problem with your question. You assume that all people in positions of power are intelligent and achieved their power through their intelligence. Is this really the case?

Look at the recent number of CEOs in the news, who were busted for committing acts of insane greed and stupidity. Enron's Kenneth Lay and others like him sent their companies into the ground for personal gain and got caught in their crimes. Are they really that smart?

Take American politicians as another example. Aren't they forever being caught in lies and failed schemes? Clinton with Monica Lewinsky, Bush with the WMDs, etc.

Correlation does not imply causation. Meaning, just because many top leaders may be highly intelligent, you cannot say that they all became leaders because of their intelligence. There are too many unworthy, self-destructive, and idiotic leaders in the world for that to be true.

Therefore, you cannot conclude that men are so much "cleverer" than women. (In fact, it should be " more clever"). We have different kinds of intelligence, and though women have been traditionally kept out of power, they find ways to exert influence behind the scenes.

It is wrong and harmful to make assumptions about anyone based on their gender, race, sexual orientation, or any other element that makes them different from you.

If you are ignorant, admit that you are and seek more information. Walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you judge them.
