what does
break ur hymen
mean? im 13 and im trying to find out about things. i dont have a mom, so its really kinda hard!! plz help wiht this.

contrary to what other answerers have said and probably believe, the hymen is not located inside of the vagina but on the outer rim. It is just a small flap of tissue and can usually be seen if you look at yourself in the mirror. This tissue is usually torn during your first sexual encounter but can also be torn due to sports, tampons, bike riding, and masturbating. Not all women have hymens although most do. In some cases the hymen does not tear during intercourse because the hymen, along with the vagina have a unique stretching ability. For the hymen, when this stretching ability is maxed out then it tears. It happens to almost every girl. Some cultures believe that the hymen is the source of virginity and believe that girls without hymens are worthless and not faithful. In our culture this is not true. You have not lost your virginity until sexual intercourse even if the hymen tears before that happens.

I am not a doctor so please do not call me on this but I believe that it is basically when a girl has sex for the first time a small piece of tissue breaks apart because of the intercourse. This is not bad if it breaks but it can cause bleeding. Also, the hymen can break during sports and other activities.

Your hymen is a very thin piece of membrane or tissue up inside the vaginal canal. You can loose it in various ways as mentioned before. It does not mean you are not a virgin if yours breaks. Some women do not even know they have broken it and others it is a very painful experience. Your Doc can tell if yours has been broken but to tell you the truth I would not worry about it if you are not having sex.
