Does Amish theology stress forgiveness more than is usual in Protestant theology? Why were they able to move so aggressively and so immediately toward forgiveness? I would especially appreciate anything I could read about the Amish, their theology and forgiveness. Thank you.

The Amish feel it is sinful to hate or be unforgiving. They believe the kids are in a better place and the shooter will meet his maker and be judged by him, not them.

I live in an Amish community (I am not Amish) and they are the nicest people in spite of what people think. They have a strong connection to a higher power and are able to forgive. This makes for interesting reading.

I live in Lancaster.
My school wrote cards to the victim's family. The Amish stress on moral values a lot more than Christians do. They beleive in God's will. They also make good whoopie pies.

Yes they stress forgiveness, and to hate or not forgive would make them no better than the killer. They are even sharing the monies they received with the family of the killer because they did nothing wrong. This world would be a better place if all of us adopted some of their values.

They were able to forgive because they are at peace, and seldom hold animosity.
