This morning I removed a tampon (tampax pearl) and the top half ripped off and is lost somewhere inside of me. I used another tampon and not too long ago, the same thing happened, the top half ripped of in the same spot and now I'm quite worried. I'm having cramping which is odd because I'm nearly done with my period. What am I supposed to do about this? This is the first time I have bought tampax pearl and I'm really, really upset.

Get to the doctor FAST and have him remove it.

Stuck tampons are the biggest cause of toxic shock syndrome (where the body starts over-reacting to infection) and so it's really important that you have it removed as soon as possible.

The implications of not doing so could be quite serious.

You need to be seen by a physician immediately. The pieces of those tampons need to be removed and I doubt that you will be able to grasp them yourself. You could try and depending on how small or large they are, it would still be best for a Dr. to do a pelvic exam and absolutely KNOW that they are gone. You could get an awful bacterial infection from this. Also not to mention that you are in danger of developing toxic shot syndrome from this also. Good luck, I hope this doesn't happen again. I think after being seen by a Dr. when you have some time of medical record made then approach the manufacturer I believe that Tampax is a reputable company and would do what ever needed to be done to keep this from happening to someone else. Just please get it taken care of first.

Honey, that tampon can't really go too far, so stick your fingers up in there and get them both out. It will be very nasty and smelly, but you need to get them both out. I am sure that you have an infection from the 1st one that was left in, hence the cramping. I would strongly suggest you use a different brand of tampons since this has happened to you twice. If you cannot get them out, then make an appointment tomorrow and be seen. Tell your physician's office it is urgent that you be seen and why. Don't ever leave something like this inside you because it will cause infection. Take some motrin or ibuprofin for the cramping and it should help.

You really need to see a doctor. You could develop TSS. If you have any symptoms, then go to the ER. Don't buy Tampax tampons anymore and you should file a complaint to the company. You really need to see a dotor! If I were you, then I would call now, or if they are not open, then go to the ER. Hope this helps and good luck! -Rayna F.

Go immediately to your A & E otherwise you could find yourself in a bit of trouble with infection. As you are already having cramps, your body is telling you something is wrong. Once you've been, write to the company informing them of the problem.

Use some KY jelly and 1 finger to see if you can gently remove it.
It can only go so far, and will not get lost inside you. Make sure to wash your hands first---and gently try to remove the other remnants, too. Please see an MD asap---
call the Tampax people and report this!!!

Go to your ob/gyn quickly and make sure that the remaining portion of your tampon is removed. Change brands of tampons!

I know it's embarresing but due to the risk of toxic shock symdrome and infection you need to see a doctor straight away. You may also have grounds for a law suit but to prove your complaint you need medical evidence so again, see a doctor as soon as possible
