Shaq says it was tainted, Pippen openly says Nash didn't deserve any of them, a few other NBA players disagree with it (don't have time to go down the list), you have people fighting back & forth saying he's overrated & he's not overrated, you have alot of people on yahoo going back & forth agreeing/disagreeing about it, and it's just a worldwide topic with people agreeing & disagreeing if he deserved mvp.

My opion is if he truly deserve them awards it wouldn't be up for debate like it is.I never seen a guy who won mvp get debated like this. That's proof enough that he didn't that deserve them.

P.S. In Shaq's defence of you guys who says that Shaq is jealous because Nash beat him out for the first one.Check this out, that wasn't the first time Shaq ever got beat out for a mvp award. If Shaq was a jealous person, well why didn't he ever say that about the other players that beat him out? Why Nash?

This is really backwards thinking....

If you're holding a baseball in your hand but everyone else tells you it's a pancake, what are you going to believe what you see with your own two eyes or what everyone else says?

Who cares if people don't agree Nash was the "rightful" MVP. And first of all Scottie Pippen is a moron, seriously I wouldn't let that guy balance my checkbook because I need enough money in there at the end of the week to buy groceries. And who is Scottie Pippen to start throwing jabs like that? Speaking of getting credit for stuff you didn't deserve, what was Pippen without Jordan? Just a crybaby who wouldn't go into the last 1.8 seconds of a playoff game because he wasn't getting the last shot.

Nash is the perfect teammate. I think it's great he won the MVP because it shows that passing is important too. The reason people disagree with it, is we've become a generation of basketball players that think if you didn't score the most points, have the most bad @ss dunk on Sportscenter and didn't do the most trash talking you're not the best player. Well that's crap.

Bob Cousy said "Steve Nash's game is perfect" and I'll agree.

The reason that Steve Nash winning the MVP is controversial is because he is not the best player. The best player doesn't always mean they are the MVP. Kobe Bryant hands down is the best player in the league right now, but unlike Steve Nash, he wasn't making his teammates better. Steve Nash does make his team better. Even though The Suns would be a playoff team without Nash, but because of Nash, they are an elite team. As just about everybody else said already, he also has two other all-stars and one of (if not) the best bench's in the league. If any of the other players who were up for the MVP last year like Lebron, Kobe or Dirk had that type of team around them, they could have won the MVP as well. In closing, Steve Nash deserved, but not any more than Lebron,Kobe, and Dirk.

I don't believe so much it's a controversy surrounding Nash and the MVP's, it's really more of a cry of how much the level of play has dropped in recent years regarding the NBA. To be honest the play in the NBA has been at times, unbearable to watch. Nash is an MVP more or less because he injects flare and excitement into the game. The game has gotten significantly younger since Stockton, Malone and Jordan have left a few years ago and the game is going through a identity crisis since. Nash wouldn't of been an MVP 10 years ago if he played exactly how he's playing now. Probably, the Suns today would not be more than a first round team if this team played that way in the 90's. Bottom line, the league has lost some sizzle and him being an MVP is more attributed to that than anything else.

because shaq is a baby...

and everyone saying that the suns have such a great supporting cast.... it's true, however shaq has payton, walker, wade, capono, mourning... so it's also true for him.

and i think many people forget that Stoudamire went down last season with a knee injury and Nash alone kept the team together. He had lost two superstars in JoeJohnson and AStoudamire from the previous year and still had the suns in the playoffs with an amazing record.

The only thing im surprised about the whole thing is Shaq hasn't played the 'race' card yet.

Shaq is a dope.

The thing that people look at in detracting from Steve Nash is that he isn't an athletically dominant player. He can't fly like LeBron or drive the hoop like Wade. These people are mistaking athletic ability for basketball ability. They are 2 completely different things.

Steve Nash sees the court and sets up his teammates through drawing the defense better than anyone in the game. Couple that with 20 points a game while shooting 50% from the field and it's pretty tough to argue against him.

He makes his team better better than anyone else does.

Shaq should stick to what he does best: self promotion and overstating his own greatness.

The answer is because nash has an amazing supporting cast. Amare Stoudimire, & Shawn Marion are also all stars. The suns also have a great bench, particularly Leandro Barbosa. The catch is though, even with all those players, Nash is the glue that holds the team together. When he went down with injury, the Suns lost three straight. So its a two headed monster, he has great talent around him, but the Suns lose when he's not there.

yea this is true. i think there is a lot of jealousy involved. perhaps shaq thinks he should of won it two years ago and is lobbying for wade to get one. pippen is a jerk who says GM s would rather have pippen than jordan and is only coming back to the nba because he owes a plane company millions of dollars. but on the other hand, the suns even with such a great cast hasnt been to the finals while dirk has. i dont think nashs MVPs are tainted and i think they are well deserved and earned.

i think ppl diss him cause he has talent around him. yes he made the team play well and succeed, but also remember years ago when Jason Kidd did the same thing with the Nets and he missed out on the MVP in favour of Tim Duncan.

maybe his stats arent as strong....its not every day an MVP candidate is leading the league in assists. Assists work by OTHER ppl doing the work, and maybe some athletes dont accept it. to them they may think that the individual themselves needs to acheieve....rebounds, steals, blocks, % shooting...things like that

im sure there are many reasons and things to say, but ultimately Steve Nash is a great player who has done a lot for the Suns, the Mavs, and the L......congrats Steve Nash...

think where the suns b4 nash came?nowhere regardless of the supporting cast without nash there they wouldnt be going newhere..he made them into title contender...u say kobe deserves the award..what has he done??? the lakers were once a championship team.... now they fight for the 6th or 7th spot..comon get real and also the other ppl who hate to see nash win is also because they hate to see a white person win a nba mvp........

It's because Nash has a great supporting cast and the team wouldn't die without him (although they would lose a hell of a lot more) and also Kobe had that amazing 81 point game. If you take Kobe, or Lebron (melo/yao/etc.) their teams would become sub-playoff teams.
