what is the difference between 1gb and 2gb if they are both 512mb??

Those sizes are refering to the max capasity of the flash drive. The higher the capasity the more you can store on the drive.

1gb = 1024mb, so its double the size of the 512mb flash drive. the 2gb ones can store twice the amount of the 1gig one. There are also 4gig, 8 gig and 16 gig ones.

If you buy flash drives in a store generally you will only see 512mb, 1gb and 2gb models and they're very overpriced. I got a 4gb model online from www.newegg.com for cheaper than a 1gb drive in an electronics store.

You have ur numbers mixed up. 1 gb, 2gb, and 512 mb are completely different. 2gb is alot more than 512mb, space wise and usually price wise.
