The Federal Governmnet has really cracked down on fraudulent contests--yes people can really win, but you may have to jump through hoops to do so.

Publisher's Clearing House is not a scam. A few years back, the federal laws regarding sweepstakes were totally revamped and PCH and American Family Publishers (remember Ed McMahon) just about went out of business.
Unfortunately - many people do not read very carefully and people who send out direct mail know that.... please look at your mail piece again - it does not say that someone with your initials WILL win - it instead uses words can or may... Trust me - several lawyers look over the language before they are mailed out to prevent lawsuits and all sweepstakes must be properly administered by law, so there are winners, but as someone else said, it is just as likely that you will win the lottery as win the PCH sweepstakes.
And contrary to what someone else said you do not need to make a purchase to win. It is illegal to require a purchase to enter a sweepstakes. It is another thing altogether to encourage a purchase as part of a sweepstakes.

I have never won but have entered many times. Their main objective is to sell magazines and other stuff so keep that in mind when you enter the contest. I do think the contest are real but your chances of winning are very low.....sort of like winning the lottery and you know how that is.

I did win $100.00 once. After 50 years I figure it paid for postage.

I say it could go either way; because I too recieve these ads. I have never won anything in the 20 0r 25 years I have been recieving them. I would take it with a grain of salt.

I've never won and I entered all the time. I even bought their crap. I won't do that again. It's a scam. They had a story about them on Dateline.

Yes, people have! But the catch: You have to do whatever they say if you want to win. You usually have to sign up for a bunch of stuff, so if you are not interested in what you are signing up for, then it is probably a waste of your time.
