Assyrians and Syrians are two different groups of people.

I speak the traditional Assyrian, modern form of Aramaic.

Assyrians are being killed, raped, persecuted in Iraq. 40% of those Iraqis that leave are Assyrians, their situation in Iraq is devestating, the indigenous people of the country are being forced out of their homes.

Of course Assyrians still exist, although your people have suffered at least two attempted genocides. You're survivors, though. Congratulations on your amazing contributions to civilization.
