well u might have to plug your ipod to a wall charger for ipods because if u leave ur ipod alone for a long period of time and the battery is completely dead, then u want to use ur ipod again and u want to charge it and u plug it in ur USB it wont work because it needs more juice to power it on

Try resetting your ipod. Slide the hold switch to hold and bach again. Then press menu and the center button at the same time till the apple logo appears.

Check to see if on the bottom there is a little hole to insert a wire to reset it. Sometimes they will shut off and have to be reset. You may or may not lose what you had on it.
