I have a 96 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition. just suddenly the tranny slipped while i took it out for a spin. When i put it on D drive, 2 or 1 it does not move forward. but if i put the gear on Reverse it moves. Can anyone help me with this problem? Do i need to replace the whole tranny? is this problem major? I`m afraid to take to the shop then find out i have to pay couple G`s to fix it. Any suggestions? PLS HELP! TY.

The cable in the linkage could have slipped. When putting it in D the needle on the dash moves, by the cable doesn't pull it to put it in gear.

properly as you defined sounds like a transmission difficulty. sounds like your opposite kit snapped. I dont understand plenty approximately computerized Ford transmissions, or expenses on Ford areas. I dont understand what variety of save you took it to, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it sounds like a common mechanic save. have you ever tried going to a Transmission expert? in accordance to the cost it sounds like a get rid of and replace pastime. i think of they are in simple terms going to tear out your previous tranny and replace with a used transmission.
