Without John Locke's influence, Voltaire might never have become the man he was, and without him, France might never have become the great proponent of liberty it was that supported and influenced the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, perhaps the greatest monument to the theory of "supply and demand" as a business model there has ever been.

Hobbes, similarly, was responsible for voicing many of the ideals that contributed to the thoughts of the Founding Fathers, notably the idea that Atheism is a perfectly reasonable and sensible conclusion, and that it's none of the government's business what you believe.

Thomas Hobbes established the necessity of working government to control man's basic need of self-preservation. He stated that people would move into anarchy if the government failed in its duty.....(Look at New Orleans as the aftermath of Kathernia and watch the movie Lord of the Flies). Hobbes was not and did not say that athesism was the way men should move religiously. He just questioned morality based on the Bible but is based on self-preservation.

John Locke's philosophy tried to show that democracy was the best form of government by showing that a democracy had the best interests of the most citizens at its center. Thomas Jefferson used it as the basis for the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence.

When combined, the works of both have greatly influence the nation as well as most democracies of the world
