From how many places can you see opposite mirror images of the body. On butterflies, if you put a mirror on its midline (either along its back or its belly), you can see the mirror image reflected (its left lside is the mirror image of its right)..
So, one half looks like the other. Bi=two lateral=sided
Now, think about a worm. If you could work out where its upperside is, then you would get the same mirror image in a mirror along its midline (its left looks like a mirror image of its right).. Same from underneath (its left looks like a mirror image of its right). But put a mirror along its side axis - horizontal and facing up, you get a reflection of its back/top that looks like its underside/belly (its top looks like the underside and vice versa)
This is radial symmetry. Now think about Jellyfish.

bilateral symmetry --> a perfect heart shape, something that if you place a mirror at the line of symmetry you'll get the full pattern radial symmetry-->when you cut an orange into 8 equal pieces with 4 cuts, and let them lie outwards like a sunflower, the pattern (each piece) is repeated along a Point of symmetry

Bilateral.
The same kind as you and me.
Starfish would be radial.
