Try disabling you antivirus software and then updating Firefox. Norton sometimes interferes with updates or loading new applications.

Why not? Malware? You need to use some good Anti-malware tools, starting with Windows Defender, if XP/2000 is your OS.

Try going to www.mozilla.org and download the latest version of Firefox. When you install it, the old version will be replaced and the new one should not need to be updated for a while.

Then, find out why your PC is misbehaving (won't download properly).
