Limewire is safe. Most of my friends have had it for a few years now, and have gotten no viruses at all. As long as you are only downloading songs, which come im mp3 or .AAA format, there is no risk at viruses, however, if you go out to download videos, programs, etc. then you have a chance of getting a virus [which would be an .exe extension]

So just stay clear of programs, videos, and song files that are less than a couple thousand KB.

If its anywhere in the hundreds (1-700) its not a song. Trust me.

Best of wishes.
By the way, limewire has been tested and there are no viruses under the music section. Also make sure you have a good firewall and a good anti-virus if you're downloading videos, and the like.

Anything you download runs a risk. Scan everything before you open it is the safe bet. But Limewire has more viruses than any other shareware out there. I 've spent the last six months fixing
computers that have been corrupted from downloaded stuff
from Limewire. Be Very Carefull!!!! People who say they don't
have a virus either don't know it or they haven't been on there too
much. But if you stick with music, you'll do better. There's plenty of shareware sites out there that's better. Avoid small files,
in the kb range. They are mostly viruses. Go for mp3 or so that
are over 1mb. With shareware, you can pick up a virus off of another user and they don't even know they're spreading it.
Now a virus can even be in JPEG images.
Repeat: Scan before you open it.

Most of the P2P clients put spyware or adware on your computer during the install process. Limewire at least use to make a spyware free version available for a fee. Besides that, any files you download could potentially contain spyware, adware, or viruses. Unless you know what you're doing, it's a major risk to your computer. Also, by downloading copyright protected files you are opening yourself up to lawsuits.

Downloading limewire itself is perfectly safe, just be careful what you download off of it (using common sence)

Dont download programs off limewire - Thats asking for trouble...Stick to music and videos - and dont click on anything of under 1000 KB

It depends on what you download from thee, limewire itself is safe, but some of the songs etc can contain viruses etc.

As with all Peer-to-Peer software, there is a risk when using them. Limewire does not contain any spyware and malware in the software itself, but the content you download from it may, and may also be copyrighted which is illegal... so thats the risk you have to take yourself!

I got tons of spyware with Kazaa and Limewire, after installing. My suggestion would be to get Shareaza. All my spyware cleaners found nothing after I installed and it connects and uses the same networks, at the same time.
