Are you wanting to improve your British accent or the accent of your birth country? What country is that? The only advice i can give is just to hang around lots of people who speak like you want to, such as city people since you will be working in the city and start making a conscious effort to sound like them.

Never loose your British accent. It is your life's trademark and most Americans love the accents from the UK. Be who you are, and not someone you think you're supposed to be.
