I have dell "ultrascan p990" 19-inch (almost flat) monitor.it shows horizontal scanlines which very disturbing to me and i dont know how to fix the problem.plz. help me on this.

Trinitron monitors have "ribbons" of rectangular areas, whereas other monitor types have "triads" of RGB. Can improve contrast and saturation ... YMMV.

If you have a digital monitor - make sure you're using the digital cord (I believe they're white) I think they're called DVI. Also, make sure you have the proper software installed for any kind of 'special monitor'.
