One type of data entry is medical billing. You enter all the data to bill patients. They make pretty good from what I understand. Here is a site that has some good information on this.

Data entry is keying data from handwritten notes or transferring from one system to another - it is usually repetitive work but it often pays better than other menial work because of the boredom factor. If possible look for data cleansing as this generally pays better and involves some level of autonomy. That said if you have little or no office skills this can be a way to get into a company or to get some admin level experience.
