I have a computer that is way too slow. I have a P4 2.8 GHZ, 512 MB, and plenty of room on my HD. I am also running Windows XP Professional and a broadband connection. The problem is that in most cases, web pages will not load completely and I have to refresh the screen mutiple times in order to get it to load. Except for on rare ocassions, page loads are EXTREMLY slow and often require three or more minutes to load simple pages (I actually time them from time to time). When I try to play music videos on yahoo, they will play for a second or two, but then they buffer for several seconds before repeating this process. What could be wrong? I am sick of this thing, and the other computer hooked up to the same router is always much faster. You can tell that it is on broadband, whereas my computer make dial up look fast. Thanks for your help!

Increase your memory. 512MB is not very much when running xp pro especially if you are also running virus and spyware programs. Everytime you open web pages memory is used up so don't have a lot of web pages open. I would increase the memory to 1Gig min. and for best results I would go to 2 Gig of memory. Make sure you buy quality memory and not the cheap stuff. Good luck!

Definitely clean out the cache / temporary internet files regularly and I'd recommend running at least 1.0GB of ram. My wife's PC came with 512MB and we had problems, but we added an extra 512Mb and its fine.

Have you tried defraging and cleaning your hard drive? Also, you might try adding another RAM chip, as music, etc. needs more memory to run.

Try deleting temporary files, along with history files and defrag.
Also clean disk.
