I just got a myspace account but a lot of people are telling me it's not safe and that I should get rid of it. Is that true or are they lying? If it is not safe then why do a lot of people do it anyway?? What should I do...get rid of it or keep it????

i am currently 14 and i have a myspace the question you should concern yourself is "am i putting in to much information which make myself to vulnerable?" you should restrict yourself on certain information that can lead to where you live or maybe your complete name SS or other information and if you want put a lock on whoever can view your myspace but to be honest just enjoy communcating with your friends through the net and have fun!!! and like others have said donot add ANYONE you donot know i recieve some random invite sometimes all i do is deny it OR i put a lock so only people that know my last name or date of birth can add me

Myspace is relatively safe, but it all depends on how you use it. It is certainly not 'idiot-proof.'

Your best bet for safety is to make your profile private and pick a fake location for where it says you live. Also, you can make it so people who request to add you as a friend must know your e-mail or last name. Really, though, you don't need to go through with that as long as you stay smart and only add people you know in real life. It's not that difficult.

Its no safer than the information you put on it. Granted that seems very general, it's the truth. If you don' consider it safe and risky, its very foolish to open up your whole life for the world to see and gawk at. You can change these settings under the privacy section. Also you can limit who you invite or allow to have contact with. So, it truly depends on how risky you want to be

Yes it is completely safe as long as you have common sense.

I would reccomend not adding anyone you dont know personally. If you only add people you already know, its pretty safe. Be careful!
