no it's just a superstition. i'm not so i wouldn't care. i'd just throw it away and move on

Throw some water balloons up in the air and run underneath them real quick. It wont reverse the bad luck but it ll make you look like a dumbass

Yes its true...the only way to reverse it is to glue all together. Then you will only have 6 and a half years bad luck.
