Our baby was born premature, the only complication he seems to be having is acid reflux. The doctor told us to mix rice cereal in with the formula. Only problem is it either comes out too fast for him or not at all. Currently we are using Dr. Browns with y cut nipples, or nubby bottles with nipples we cut ourselves. The ones we cut seem to have the best results most of the time, but I was hoping someone knew something better.

We used "Thick it" for my daughter which is much better than rice cereal plus we cut the nipples ourselves with scissors and with some trial and error got it right.

We also had a 6-week preemie and have been mixing rice cereal in with his bottle since he was 4 weeks old. The good news - the rice cereal really helps! Between the Zantac (prescription) and the rice cereal, we've seen much better results with the rice cereal. And, as an added bonus, he started sleeping through the night relatively early. Now, here's the bad news: Dr. Brown makes the best y-cut nipples, so you've already got them. The wide-neck bottles with the y-cut seem to work the best for us! It's sometimes very difficult to find Y-cut bottles so we have resorted, in the past, to cutting them ourselves, but the Dr. Brown y-cut have been nice.

My twins also had this problem. I mix 2 teaspoons of rice cereal in 4 ounces of formula and use Playtex's variable flow nipple. It is a y-cut and works wonders.
