you start at home plate. After you hit the ball, you run to 1st base. Then, you run to 2nd base. After that, yup, you guessed it, run to 3rd base. Then, all you have to do is run back to home plate again and you will score a run, which is good.

Ok, here's the deal. In high school, you can steal the next base once the ball leaves the pitchers hand. And yes, it's all about timing. What my team does to time when the ball leaves the pitchers hand is, we get into a position where one of our foot is on the front of the base, facing 2nd base, and our other foot is on the back/side of the base. Then you put your arms infront of you, pointing to 2nd, and once their pitcher starts her motion, you swing your arms back, and then forward. when they go forward, your kinetic energy should shoot forward, and you should be bolting to 2nd. if the catcher decides to throw the ball to 2nd, and it's close, you need to slide, or else you'll be out. you don't have to steal just 2nd, you can steal 3rd and home, but if you decide to steal home, make sure the ball goes PAST the catcher and you HAVE to slide. if your quick, you'll make it.
Now, when you're already on 1st or 2nd, and if you don't decide to steal, then you need to wait for the batter to hit the ball. IF YOUR ON 2ND OR 3RD, AND IF THERE'S SOMEONE BEHIND YOU ON 1ST OR 2ND, (1ST IF YOUR ON 2ND, AND 2ND IF YOUR ON 3RD), THEN YOU HAVE TO RUN ONCE THE BALL IS HIT. Unless the ball is a pop-up. Then you have to wait until either a player catches the ball, or misses the ball. If they catch the ball, you can't run, or else they could throw it to your base and you'll be out. If they miss the ball, you can sprint to the next base (if it's far enough.)

how to steal bases. well it`s kind of a timing thing. you get on first base and you watch the pitcher, When he or she makes a move to go to home plate thats when you steal and run to second base. 3rd base is tougher to steal because the catcher doesn`t have to far to throw to 3rd as he does to 2nd base.
