Because there isn't much to study. We are simple beasts like a V8 engine. A woman on the other hand is more like a super computer.

At the moment there is no men's studies group here, though there's no reason why wider issues of gender can't be discussed here. However, men's studies, as a subject on its own, has easily degenerated into some sort of chest-pounding defence of a mythical macho masculinity.
The idea that you can discuss men's issues separate from women's issues is misleading. Gender is a relational identity. And, as we have seen, a men's movement that is unaware of how feminism has contributed to our understanding of the construction of gender identities reproduces inequalities based on sex. A discussion of men's issues that avoid the realities of power relations in society easily degenerate into misogynist movements that defend a single, unitary and hegemonic idea of 'what it is to be a man' which ignores the social reality that most men face. There are a lot of different ways of being a man out there, and there are a lot of different kinds of men.
And, by the way, the study of men is now included in women's studies as well, in large part because the most informative studies of men and masculinity have emerged out of, or been influenced by, research conducted under the rubric of women's studies and feminist theory.
By the way, I am a male anthropologist whose research focus is on sports and masculinity. This is now a rapidly growing field of study that can't be divorced (please pardon the pun) from women's studies.
So I don't really think we need a men's studies section, just a wider section in which all manner of gender studies can be incorporated!! If that is under a women's studies banner, so be it.

There is a mens studies group its called politics, history, science, you name it. Women have been left out for so long they have only had small impact on these topics. What I would like to see are Men's Psychology courses offered since Womens's Psychology is already offered in some many colleges.

I absolutely LOVE that complexity argument.
Exactly how are women more complex than men? Does emotional expression equal complexity or something? I'd love somebody to explain that.
Anyways, the reason is because Women's Studies is already an established division of Social Studies while Men's Studies is not. If you want to campaign for the more neutral Gender Studies, that's always an option, but it doesn't seem to be too important a distinction at the moment. That's all I can tell you about it.

i wonder what exactly would be discussed on a man's studies group. lol. it seems to me, men have a lot less to complain about, or maybe they just don't complain as much.
plus men are far more simple and don't need to play games, they don't tend to make problems out of nothing like a lot of women seem do. i love that about men, perhaps thats why my best friend is a man. i've had far more luck with male friends than female ones. less problems, waaay more happy fun times and waaay less drama

We should petition to have a Men's Studies on Yahoo Answers.
Of course, the sexist misandrist man-haters, and the lesbians (that call themselves "feminists") will cause an uproar and say such a section of Yahoo Answers would be "sexist."
I don't think it's a far-fetched idea. I mean, we have Men's magazines, a Men's Health section here, and various other Men-related organizations. It would be great.

Women's studies is an actual field of study. It was formed because of sexism against women. Men don't need a field of study because they wrote history and every other science and other field of study.
