You could try febreeze, and perhaps get the furniture and carpets professionally cleaned, or rent a rug doctor. Also, wash the walls as they collect the residue from cigarette smoke and will also smell. It is difficult to completely get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke.

smoking odor is obvious to anyone who does not smoke, especially when looking at homes to purchase. I would let whoever is smoking know that they can no longer do that... if it is your home and you are trying to sell it, they possibly could be sending away potential buyers just because of the odor.

febreeze works ok.... and there are odor absorbing 'sponges' at most hardware stores, you just open a couple and put behind furniture/etc and that helps as well. maybe have scented candles burning while you have the house shown?

simmer some vinegar, vanilla escence and some lemon zest in a pan before someone comes. The smell should spread throughout the house. If needed, take the pan with the mixture downstairs and walk around the house with it.
