No one really knows. But you would think that if the brain is dead that they have no idea what is happening and there for is unconscious. But some think that the soul is still there as long as the heart is still beating. I myself would not like to be kept alive by machines if I were brain dead. Everyone has a different opinion that's just mine.

you sort of answered your own question bacuse their brain is dead and they are just being kept alive by machines, they are unconsious. I belive that at this point the soul has left the body and they are where they are supposed to be. I think that they cease to exsist as a person when they are brain dead because there is nothing you can do to have them function normally again.

They are dead. The body is made to function by un-natural means. They are thought to have no conciousness. The soul is debatable, if you are a believer or not. They ceased to exist as a person when they were put on the machine and had no concious thought of their own

It means there is no brain activity at all- the life support machine is just keeping their organs from shutting down, but they are dead.

As for the rest of question, nobody can tell you. Nobody has returned from the dead with great tales of what happens, so the question can not be answered by any person on this earth with any certainty. Now, tons of people will tell you what they believe happens, but there is a great difference between belief and fact.

Yes, I believe they're dead. The machine is keeping their heart going, If you turn the machine off, then their heart stops! Although sometimes, they're in a coma, so you should always keep them on the machine for a period of time, just to make sure that they're really brain dead!

Thats a difficult question. If a person is legally brain dead, and the machine is removed then the body will also die. My brother in law was in this situation and we managed to get to his bedside before he died. When we called his name and talked to him,his eyelids moved. The doctors said that it was involuntary movement but I don't know. And no, if you aren't right with God when you enter this unknown state, There is no further chance to get right.

I think they're dead, like some artificial form of protoplasm. But, some people think otherwise, and I won't argue with them - I'm not proud enough of my understanding of such a delicate issue to try and talk someone out of theirs.
