most oil based funiture rubs can make the white color go away. Water has sat in the porous wood. You need something that will penetrate the wood as the water did, oil based should do the trick for you.

try furniture polish if that don't work you might have to re-stain it with new stain i have the same problem but mine disappear all on it's own sometimes i use furniture polish to keep it from happing so good luck

You can try some shoe polish with a color to match the furniture. It is only a temporary fix but it does help.

Use toothpaste. It is a mild abrasive.

Or, use 0000 grade sand paper and touch up with stain and paint or varnish. I assume you have a varnished furniture.
Sand with the grain NOT across.
