Interesting Q. Yuka chan!*¸¸.·*´¯` ♡
1. Yes, I first came to Japan 16 years ago.
I've lived here about 10 years now.
2. I pretty much just 'answer' but I may 'ask' a few soon. (^_-)-☆ Hmmmm, let me think....♡
3. I come here to learn things I don't know.(*^o^*) ~There's so much valuable information and so many interesting viewpoints here. I try to answer the questions I've had myself in the past and found useful information about. I usually do most of my answering on the train. I have long, long train rides and put the time to good use answering.♡^_^♡
4. Yes, I do speak and understand Japanese. I live in a Japanese household and work with all Japanese. My friends are Japanese, we usually speak only Japanese. You see, my day to day life requires it. Simple things such as going to the post office, cleaners, bank... It's a must!
Hmmmm, nice Q! Enjoyed it!\(^∇^)/ Arigatou ne!

1. I am in Japan at present. I have been here for over 15 years. But I should stop counting because since I just built a house for my family, I am not going back to the US any time soon.
2. Since I discovered Yahoo! Answers and started asking and answering question, I now consider this as one of my hobbies. I am only at level three now, but I want to get to the top level as soon as I can. Sort of a goal for me now. So, I sort of have stopped asking questions and now, I only answer them. But the questions I have had have by in large been asked by other people, so a simple question search has helped me several times, in that i can have my question answered and not lose the 5pts for asking myself.
3. I already answered the first part of this question above, but as for the second part, I feel confident because my experience in Japan is longer than most of the other foreigners. I have been through most of the things foreigners go through and I just want to help others. I do not answer questions that I cannot answer. Such as questions about Tokyo subways, etc. I have no idea about that type of stuff.
4. Being here for so long, you can't help but pick up some Japanese. I am almost fluent in daily conversational Japanese. I am really good at electronics and computer talk. I have fooled several Denkiya clerks into thinking I was a Japanese from Okinawa. But when it comes to more specialized topics such as medical things, and politics, I am just a babe. Knowledge is very limited. I don't know a lot of Japanese, but what I do know and am able to use, I can use it very well. Or so I am told.

1. Yes, I have been to Japan several times. I went to Japan once as a cultural exchange student and lived there for 6 months. I went another time to work and lived there for 6 years teaching English and working part-time at a trading company as an Import-Export Clerk/Translator.
2. I mainly answer questions since there are so many intriguing questions out there. (Unfortunately, a fair majority of questions are not worth answering.) I only answer questions that I feel I can add more to and questions that are of a more intellectual nature such as language, culture, science, computers, and the occasional philosophical question. I enjoy sharing my experiences and knowledge with others.
3. I feel confident in answering questions about Japanese culture, society, language, and food. I have been working as a translator for over 20 years now and since I lived in Japan for 6 years, earned a degree to teach shakuhachi (準師範) and have been happily married to a Japanese for 20 years, I feel I can offer quality answers on most questions related to Japan. Of course if someone else has already provided an answer similar to the one I was considering writing, and if that person gives a good, thorough answer, I'll just give that person a Thumbs Up and move on...

1. I've been in Japan over 5 years.
2. HAven't asked any questions yet - only answered them.
3. As Adam says, for fun plus to help visitors with any info I might have that could be to their benefit.
- I feel confident in answering questions related to travel (to places I've been), living in Tokyo, history, festivals, and some parts of Japanese culture which I have witnessed and/or written about:
http://samuraidave.wordpress.com/
4. Unfortunately, my Japanese sucks because I teach English most of the time and on my days off I often to go on trips around Tokyo or by overnight bus to further places. I know enough Japanese to get around though. I want to learn more. I often tend to study Japanese history in my spare time rather than Japanese itself. For some reason I can remember the history much easier than the language.

Hi,
1. Yes
2. I've joined for only a short while so I havent participated much, but I mostly answer.
3. Japan has a fascinating culture. Some of the Q&As in Yahoo Answers bring out interesting facts about Japan (alot of) which I never knew or show me people's perspective from outside Asia. I think it's only fair I contribute whenever I can, mostly in answering questions on travel and studying the language.
4. JLPT level2
