This was his early high school basketball number (33 was his later number followin in his fathers footsteps). There was someone who was number 24 when Kobe was first drafted and also 33 is retired for the Lakers. supposedly Kobe choose from his days in the Adidas ABCD camp #143 (1+4+3 = 8)
