Ok, I got a new computer, due to the fact that my other one just stopped working. If my new computer has an extra RAM slot, and both computers have the same type of RAM, is it possible to add the RAM stick from the old computer to the new one?

And what about a floppy drive from my old computer?

How can I do both of these things if they are possible?

As for the floppy, I just bought an Intel DG965WH mobo. Out of the box I needed a floppy drive to install the RAID. You decide on the obsolete part of it. You may be able to get the drivers and put them on a CD, I didn't look. Floppy may be old but it still has its uses. Windows XP should have a basic driver for a floppy in it. As long as the RAM is the same it should work

It is possible to use your old parts on your old computer. It is possible to add your old floppy drive to your old computer (if you can install it). For the memory, it is a little harder. I tried to do the same thing, but you need to make sure they are made by the same company and that your new computer has a slot for it.

Yes you can use the other RAM stick but you should make sure that they run at the same speed (ram is rated in Mhz eg. 133mhz) I'm not sure of the repercusions of running different speeds of memory but I know that with older multiple ram chips they would all run at the lowest speed (this pertains to Pentium 2-3 style motherboards, where if you had a 100mhz and a 133mhz the ram would all run at 100mhz). Try putting the ram into your pc and then grab an app called Everest (its an auditing software that gives you all sorts of info on your pc... motherboard, video and of course ram info (eg. maker, speed, RAS to Cas settings)

As for the floppy... they are pretty much obsolete, but if you feel the need for one just put it in, connect it with the old cable and it will work.

Have fun! :)

If you have the same type of memory and you have a free memory slot, you can put the old memory to,if they are compatible with the new one.You can put in,if works and counts the memory it works,if not it didnt works,
What do you want to do with the floppy drive?Today floppy drives are like marksmans in the word war 2,they are completely useless!Burn it!

Yes, you can add the ram, however, the floppy may not be useable on the new system since so many puters no longer come with them, you may not have the drivers you need. Check with the place where you bought the puter and ask them.
