First off, thank you for your service to our country.
There had been ample warning to the POTENTIAL severity of the storm prior to landfall. Unfortunately the financial demographic of New Orleans, LA was not equally able to self evacuate. The GROSS lack of communication between the Mayor's, Governor's and eventually Fema's offices lead to the popular blame of the President. This was and is an unprecedented emergency that took place.
Another part of the problem that compounded matters is the aging infrastructure of the Louisiana Levy system. Had this been able to retain the waters of Lake Pontchartrain, there would have been less flooding and water damage.
It seems that there wasn't an effective evacuation plan to implement or execute before, during or after the storm... The Mayor asked for state aide and in turn the state took to long to Federalize the relief efforts and rescue efforts.
As a resident of a Coastal Hurricane prone state, my heart goes out to everyone who suffered a loss in that horrible storm... I also have to add that if you had seen the satellite pictures of the clouds covering 85% of the Gulf of Mexico, your blame of the government should really only be so much as they had predicted the storm to impact Alabama, Mississippi, part of Florida and obviously Louisiana.... well in advance. I understand that not everyone is able to financially, but self preservation is a natural instinct.

5 days before the storm hit they were told it would be a major hurricane
4 days before the storm hit again they were told it could be a cat 5 and to take precautions
3 days before the storm hit, yet again, most likely place would be new orleans, take action
2 days before storm hit, president call mayor and pleads with him to have people evacuate
1 day before storm hit, mayor says to evacuate
storm hits biloxy MS. New orleans thinks they have dodge another one, but oops.....the levies did in fact break this time.
storm +1 city does nothing
storm+ 2 city and state does nothing
storm +3 city and state does nothing and feds get fed up and take over.
storm + 4 people start getting evacuated.

Well, thank you for your service to our country. Why don't you google it? I dont really know what made people so angry against our government but it has something to do with our we didn't properly handle helping them get their necessities and getting information out in a timely manner.

Only citizens that depended on the government for everything and those that wanted to keep them in that form of slavery were upset. Everyone else got along just fine.

I know that they were mad because the governement didn't help out as much with the damage. Now President Bush is visting the Alabama and Georgia tornado victims to show that he cares and that he does want to help out. I bet you could look it up more on Google or something.

Nagin and Blanco didn't call FEMA right away and blamed Bush, and Nagin didn't utilize school buses that could have evacuated people.

They were told to get out and they didn't. Then the LA government did nothing nor the mayor to help their people out. They blamed it all on Bush who was suppose to take care of them while their state government and mayor wouldn't. They still don't want to take care of themselves and are the only ones screaming about their bad luck while everyone else in the country who falls on tragedy picks themselves up and moves one w/o all the whining.
