I don't know where you heard that Matt Damon and Adrien Brody are replacing any Star Trek characters. Those two aren't even working on a new Star Trek movie and the only Star Trek movie (Star Trek XI scheduled for a Christmas 2008 release), doesn't even have a cast yet.

A true Trekkie can appreciate all the Star Trek related shows. Since the original was cancelled at such an early stage, it is nice when they can do a show and develop the characters and storylines.

'Deep Space Nine' is by far the best of all the 'Star Trek' series. It is about life, death, love, betrayal, karma, gods, destiny... it is the richest and most diverse of all 'Trek'. Watch is from the beginning, you won't be disappointed! The show is an arc, and must be appreciated from the pilot onwards.

As for Matt Damon and Adrien Brody, nothing is set in terms of cast for the new movie. All we know is that JJ Abrams will direct it.

It started in last episode of season four when Odo discovers his race called the changelings. The changelings own the Jem'Hader with drug. The episode is a two part and picks in season 5.

Watch the 1st "The action photograph" or the 2d "The Wrath of Khan". the 1st is in simple terms an fairly solid solid sci-fi tale. The 2d is extra like the unique sequence - super relaxing, action and an fairly over-the-precise villian. that's, in actuality, a sequel to between the episodes.

DS9 was far better than Voyager, so you would do well to watch that as well.
