Not sure what you are going after here, but there a 4 ways to connect a Mac to a Router.

1. Ethernet Cable
2. USB Port
3. Wireless Airport Card.
4. Firewire Port

If you are hooking up a wireless router to use your Mac's Airport card you have to configure the router with your ATT PPPoE info as they require user names and passwords. If not you just set that info up in the Network Settings.

Best way if you have never done this is to open up Network under System Preferences and select Assist Me and then Select the Assistant. It will walk you through all the steps and you will need your user name and password for ATT/Yahoo.

Good Luck

Just plug in a ethernet cable from router to mac. The other one is for the telephone.
