No its not the end of the world.

It was a lunar eclipse, and thats when the earth moves infront of the sun, blocking out the light to the moon.

It was red because, due to the refractive nature of light, the light bent more into the red range of the visible spectrum, so the light that bent round the earth to reach the moon was a reddish colour.

I think thats right. Hope it helps.

Yes and no - sweetie.

It was an eclipse, true - but the reason it was coloured so wrong, is because the colour of the light getting past the earth was filtered by the earths atmosphere. It is because the atmospere is so polluted.

So you could say that it was a sign the end of the world is near.

Of all the people in the world, its mostly the fault of the americans since they generate the most pollution, they use most of the oil to fuel their big automobiles and trucks. They make the most garbage and waste so much food. That it's so disgraceful, its no wonder the rest of the planet is resentful and unhappy with the americans.

The world will still be here, but the real question is will we still be here. People can be extinct some day, if all this polluting gets worse.

cheers babe

There was a total Lunar Eclipse last night. They frequently make the Moon look red or copper of even pretty dark gray. It was just an eclipse, one of many, and it was predicted in advance as you could see by going back a couple days in this section and seeing all the questions about it before it happened.

The sun has lived for about 5 billion years, and will live for about an other 5 billion years too. at the end of the ten billion years, it will swell up and swallow Mercury, Venus and the Earth or even Mars! After that the sun will become a white dwarf star.
If you are asking about the End of the Universe, I have to say that the universe is expanding now and later it will contract and become a big clump of material and the BIG BANG will happen again and every thing will start from the first stage!

Augh! I missed it! Totally forgot last night.

It was a lunar eclipse. Our earth blocked direct light from the sun. But light curved around through our atmosphere and gave the moon a red glow.

Now I have to wait until 2025 for the next one. :(

Is it the end of the world? Are you serious, how can you possibly make that connection between the color of a stellar object and the fact that the world might miraculously disappear from the fabric of our universe? You need to stay away from astrology, religion, or wherever you are hearing this crap.

The end of the world won't come until the war in Iraq (and all middle eastern violence) is finished. ;)

See my link for details on why the moon turns red.

Yes, it won't come unless there is peace in the middle east, that is true. But lately I've become concerned that it might all end because of N. Korea. So PRAY PRAY PRAY and kiss your *** goodbye! lol!~
