A friend of mine kept lurchers at Priddy - he could never get them organised enough for a race! My neighbour next door to me has a similar problem with a disorganised lurcher - he's been badly bitten (the dog, I mean) by other dogs as a result. These are good owners, too, I'm sure, but lurchers have only one thing on their minds, rabbits mostly, oh, and my cats. We have a lot of hares round here as I'm sure you know, and they seem to be the favourite 'trainer' for the dogs - I don't know if a group of dogs wouldn't result in chaos (as above). Maybe two is the best as my friend found when he went rabitting.
Look after their feet, is what he always used to say, he was always attending to their paws - he even got advice from the dog-track vet at Bristol for their best care. (He moved to Spain with his family which is why I'm using the past tense, not because he was gobbled up by the dogs ...)
Best of luck with the Shepton show, always good fun showing game dogs ...
However, I've got to say I prefer seeing hares and bunnies skipping about than in my stewing pot - although my friend did often give me what they caught because he reckoned I made the best stew ...

My Jessie looks like Scooby Doo. She's lazy & only ever moves when she's took out for a walk, meal times or there's a plastic carrier bag behindher (they freak her out!!!), so if Jessie is anything to go by, I wish you all the luck in the world!!! xxx
