AL - Minnesota

They got career years from Mauer, Cuddyer and Morneau. Add Liriano's fantastic season and subsequent injury and the Twins are going to have a difficult time contending in the tough Central.

NL - St. Louis

They are simply not that good of a team.

Also, the Mets had better be careful. Their pitching staff isn't near as good as people think. Their offense will not carry that team. They need innings out of their starters and I'm not sure they'll get it.

EDIT: Georgie Porgie!!! Looks like you were using your heart instead of your head with that post!! 8P

AL: as much as I would LOVE to see the Yankees be the worst of those five teams record-wise, they probably won't be. they get to play the devil rays and orioles 18 times each (I think it's 18, correct me if I'm wrong) that's at least 25 wins right off the bat. I think that it will be the Oakland A's because they lost Zito and Frank Thomas (their only good power hitter)

NL: I think it will be the Padres. They haven't made any real improvements, while the Mets, Phillies, and Dodgers all have. The Cardinals had an off-year last year (i know they won the world series, but during the regular season they faced lots of injuries), so they'll be back towards the top.

I think it will probably be the Twins and the Cardinals....

Both teams lost starting pitchers......Twins have their young offense, but there SP behind Santana are kind of iffy....and the Cardinals have the same thing besides Carpenter and there bullpen doesn't look too strong either....offense is weak behind pujols and rolen(not that great)

wont be these teams....

yankees-boosted pitching staff and still same scary batting order....
tigers-same pitching staff, young guns developing and getting stronger, added sheffield to their line-up
oakland-they get it done through their pitching and farm system every year....
white sox-they have the players to be a WS contender still, as they did last season also

mets-might lose some ground because of there aging starting rotation, but their young offense(better than the twins) will make up for it....
padres-signed maddux, somehow they get it done these past years......(my second choice to fall out)
dodgers-strengthened there starting rotation, veteran bats and rising prospects...
phillies-added SP this offseason, same solid offense....

In The AL, of course it will be the chicago whiny sux.
EVERYONE knows that 2005 was a fluke for them.

The Tigers only got better by adding Gary Sheffield.
And, should we have any injuries, our AAA team is well stocked and ready to go.

Let's not even talk about Andrew Miller!
And Maybin!

Seriously, Jeremy Bonderman is working on a change-up that will blow you away--add that to his wicked wicked slider and above average fastball---and I can see a 20 game winner.

Kenny Rogers will have another good year.
Mike Maroth is back, healthy, and ready to go.
Joel Zumaya throws at 103 out of the 'pen...

Todd Jones is iffy...I dont think he will do as good as 2005, but he should do the job nicely.
Justin Veralnder is going to be almost lights out.

Plus, we have Jim Leyland...he will not allow The Tigers to experience what he calls "The WS Hangover"
he's going to keep the players on thier toes.

Last year's loss in the world series will only motivate them to do better.

For the NL, it dsoesnt really matter.

Why is it surprising that the Cardinals are in the top 5 in their league? They won 100 games in back to back seasons, and have the best player in baseball.

They did lose pitching, but the pitchers they brought in can surely match the numbers that Marquis, Suppan, Ponson and Weaver put up in the regular season....Go ahead and sleep on this team, they won't mind as they win the Central and shock someone in the first round of the playoffs....

I see the Rush Limbaugh of Yahoo! Answers is at it, never missing a chance to show how silly a grown man looks using stupid nicknames. But don't insult him - or he will run to the Yahoo police!
All you need to know is Detroit will not make it back to the World Series. No team in the 21st century has made it back after losing the year before (remember - Detroit lost last year/ so win = winners, lose = losers) So last years World Series losers will not make it back this year.
And that is how it's done...

Tigers. They can't keep the same bullshit up that they did last year. In the NL, San Diego. Out of those teams, they seem like a team to win only about 77 - 80 games.
