I don't hug trees but I think we need to get off of fossile fuels for national security 1st and to pollute 2nd.

From what you've said, I think you sound reasonable.

It sounds like you are thinking about issues rather than personalities. What the hell are you doing on this board? (grin)

Some additional points on (1) and (2)

We have heard since the 1970's that oil was going to run out, and a lot of people use that as a reason it is not going to run out now. The difference, as I see it, is that the ENERGY companies themselves are now looking for alternate means of energy, which should be giving everybody a clue as to the inventories of fossil fuels over the next 10 years.

Believe it or not, it costs LESS to jail a person for life, then to try a capital case. From a pure economic standpoint, the death penalty is too costly to bother with. I can give you some links on that one.

I don't hug dead dinosaurs, but I think we should drill our own oil rather than importing it. Tree-huggers seem to be against drilling in Alaska, so they'd rather we bought it from someone else, who also has to drill anyway.

The trouble with setting up labor camps for murderers is that there will always be someone to scream that it's cruel and unusual punishment. I don't believe in executing them for vengence, but I think it makes a better deterrent to just have one rule: If you take a life, you owe a life.

I don't think the borders can be shut down without more law enforcement, but I think it should be illegal to hire illegal aliens or pay them social services. Every country has the right to keep its country secure from invasion (technically that's what it is), for the sake of its own survival. Illegal aliens already get 2/3 of our welfare tax money, and who knows what else for free college tuition and free medical care. Currently they get more benefits than I do as a citizen.

Have you ever heard the expression: Everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to die? That statement is so true when it comes to some enviromentalists. Just think about it for awhile.

You're a Left Libertarian.

That is,you identify with many of the left's issues, but you don't necessarily buy their solutions.

So far you sound fairly conservative, but you have left out your stance on so many issues its hard to say.
