Because i answered a question about whether greyhound racing should be banned. As the dogs are doing what they are bred for, i say dont ban it. What i would like to see banned is the breeding and selling of any dog that is not going to be used for work. Every dog was bred to do a job, and not 1 of those jobs included sitting in front of the fire all day, and being walked a fraction of their capabilities. So should greyhound racing be banned? No. What do you think? And im not condoning the mistreatment of dogs. Most breeders and racers are legitimate and wouldnt harm their dogs. As for the very small minority who do mistreat them, lock them up and throw away the key...

Ok.so my comments were a bit harsh...hiding behind the cloak of the internet. So my apologies to gooner. im not an animal extremist, but I am educated in the statistics of the greyhound suffering and disposal in the British Greyhound Racing Industy.

I have to disagree on this one. I think no animal should be used for the use of man in the way of racing etc. Its a known fact that if a greyhound isnt used for racing then they do not run a lot by nature. They are infact a very docile, couch potato dog. Also, dogs being used to hunt animals by idiots who see this is fun is totally wrong.
People may say that this is the purpose but, if domestication wasn't introduced then dogs would actually have probably evolved and may or may not be with us. Yes, they chose domestication but that doesnt give us the right to race them for money. It wasnt so long back that a man was sued for killing ex racing greyhounds with a hammer!!! The owners no longer needed them for racing so they paid £15 to have them hit over the head and dispossed of. Yes, them very 'loving and caring' racing dog owners!! Yes, there are people who do genuinelly love there racers but from what I have seen these are very few and far between.

There's nothing wrong with racing dogs, it's good exercise for them, the only thing I have an issue with is when they're older, many become abandoned & cruelly kept. What these people need to realise is these dogs supplied you with money in their youth, now it's your turn to return the favour & supply them with love. Not all people who race dogs are cruel, some have a heart. xxx

I agree with you. That particular breed of dog needs that extreme exercise, they are cared for and looked after, even in their retirement. You are entitled to your opinion without being judged. That email appears to be, a direct angry attack at you and lacks grace. I probably get one now, lol.

ignore her she prob doesnt shave her legs and wants to live in a tree she prob thinks that cows shouldnt be milked because they are being abused, does she also think that dog shows are wrong stuff ive seen them do to their dogs is a bit iffy
