Winning a war against people who do not care if they live or die is problematic. However, I think that you may be referring however to those people who are willing to die to become a religious martyr. These people do value the life of "believers" but have a different sense of the value of the life of "unbelievers" which is why they want to kill the maximum number of "unbelievers" as they become a martyr. Killing a "believer" is forbidden. Dying as a martyr is considered to be a great sacrifice and honor and will be rewarded in the afterlife.

Most answers to this question have suggested that the people against whom the war on terror is conducted, should be summarily killed. This also will be very problematic because there are many of them.

However, it probably would be safer for the "unbelievers" if the most highly trained and well-equipped ones were killed or captured. This takes overwhelming firepower and only is successful in a fairly homogenous population. It would be easiest if they would gather together in one place so the maximum number could be killed in one fell swoop.

But what about those who live interspersed in a heterogeneous population? How can they be isolated and killed?

I think that so far no one has tried to psyche them out by explaining the myths and truths of religion to them. It might work to disuade some who are not so keen on becoming a martyr. Also, it ought to successful for them to live in a society where they have access to decent housing, education, job opportunities and healthcare but for some reason it does not seem to work. Diplomacy seems to postpone the inevitable but in the long range scheme of things, it does not work.

So, I guess that the best solution is a supernatural one that the savior of each religion come to end the crisis. Otherwise, generation after generation will be fighting for the same reasons.

That kind of mis-unerstanding is how we got in this situation in the first place.

It is most definitely not that they don't care if they live or die - but they have things they believe in enough to die for.

Americans used to. The world increasingly believes that this is weakening in the American psyche, that we don't believe strongly enough in things to put our own lives on the line.

The way to win is to convince them that there are choices other than my way or no way, kill or be killed. When there is no hope, death is a strong option. We need tgo give them hope and options.

It's not that easy when the liberals tie the hands of our military in their war on the War on Terror . Democrat senators need to stop slandering our troops-here and abroad ; and they need to stop emasculating our military . And would it be too much to ask - that they quit giving aid in comfort to the enemy at every turn - in in the bias liberal drive-by media ???

We asked the same question in WWII. The Japanese religion at the time told them that they would go to heaven by dying for their country. Until we showed that we had the power and resolve to defeat them did they sue for peace.

You'd have to define what it would mean to "win" a war. By win, do you mean to reach a mutual agreement between the two sides? Do you mean using shear force to overpower the otherside into submission? Do you mean win by simply destroying everyone who is opposed to you?

The true crime is how they got that way in the first place. Letting it go on is ignoring the human race.
