I've read other poster's threads about this, but in answer to their advice, my computer does have a lot of space. We've upgraded it several times. I can only play for about 5-10 minutes before it freezes and the cursor dissappears, and then I have to reset my computer just to turn it off. Its really getting frustrating.

Please explain so I will understand what to do! (I'm not that incredibly good with computers...)

Thanks a lot,

Ellen (eeclarry)

In reply to taking it back to the store, I've had it for quite awhile so I can't really return it. It has done this before, but just when I thought I fixed it, it does it again.

My game would freeze up until I added more RAM memory. RAM memory has nothing to do with how much memory (space) is available on your hard drive. The RAM memory, or virtual memory, has to do with what it takes for the computer to put all the stuff on the screen for you to see it. Find out what your RAM is, you might need to add more if your computer can take more. For example, our computer had 80GB hard drive, and 256 MB RAM when we bought it. After my first couple expansion packs I added another 256 MB RAM, it worked for awhile, then after I added Pets and Seasons I added another 512 MB RAM. We still just have the 80 GB hard drive. Now it never freezes up when I am playing the game.

For our computer we got the last 512 MB RAM on sale at Best Buy for about $90.00. To check your RAM try clicking on the start button, then RIGHT click on My Computer, then select properties. That should pull up a box where you can find your RAM. Depending on the number of expansion packs and custom content, you want to have at a minimum 512 MB RAM for smooth game play.

Hope that helps

I don't quite know how to fix this problem but on my computer, with my sims 2 it didn't start slowing down until I started adding stuff onto it like custom stuff from the web. at one point i uninstalled one of the expansion packs but that didnt help much. you can try defragmenting your computer, disk cleanup, all that good stuff.
