Perfectly safe. Although yes, if you believed what the papers, TV etc. said you would stock up on tinned food and lock yourself in a concrete bunker for the duration of the race war that is going to start anyday now.
London is (prolly) the most-mulitcultural city in the world - and the best integrated. I would say its the best city in the world.
Come visit, its great.
(oh and everything Jo N said REALLY happened !)

Trust me, its fine for an american to visit London. Millions of tourists visit every year and dont get any trouble from muslims or anyone else. Like most places in the world dont show off cash, cameras, flashy jewelry and you will be fine.
Just because a place gets a bomb threat it doesnt automatically mean its from anyone who actually knows a thing about planting bombs, most are probably from sad nutters who want attention.
I think the demands for muslim law in britain must very quiet and few in number because I havent seen any! The protests that are large and have a loud message from Muslims are mainly about the message that Islam is not the enemy of christianity or the west and an entire religion of people should not be tarred with the same brush as a few murderous extremists. The Koran does say that peace should be laid upon Jesus after all.
Anyways hope you do come to london its a great place!

Yeah London has bomb threats just like New York and we are proud to be a multi cultural City I wouldn't say there are more Muslims in London than northern Britain but it makes no more Difference than Me as an English person travelling to New York
It is as safe as any other Capital City and it is a beautiful place to go
Walk along the Thames go see the houses of Parliament, London Eye Buckingham Palace etc you will love the night life and places to eat
Don't be put off by extremists they will only win if you are

Come to London, over 6 million people live here and we're less paranoid about bombs that some places in the western world. I live in London, my granparents were bombed in the docks during the war, my parents were here when the IRA were doing their thing and I was here on 7th July when the latest bombs went off. I still travel on the tube daily.
It's a big place and you're seriously more likely to get hit by a big red bus than blown up by a terrorist.
As another poster has said, London is one of the most well adapted multicultural citys on the planet. I am not a minority in being a person who has friends who have been injured in terrorist bombs and I also have friends who are muslim. So if you do come try to keep any islamophobic opinons to yourself, London ticks by so well because we know that hate breeds hate and we all just want to get along; and for the most part we do.

Yes of course it is. If we get bomb threats everyday then no one has told us. The muslim population is large and then tend to live in the suburbs and you generally don't see many in the tourist areas. I also have a close working relationship with moslems, they make up about 75% of my clients and I find them to be lovely gentle peace loving people who only care about their friends and families, bit like us really. But you do take the biscuit....I do not consider the US to be the most safe of places, how many murders per day are there compared to here or the rest of the world?

Don't be so bloody paranoid.
I could ask is it safe to travel to America, since the place seems to be full of nutters with guns.
For heavens sake! I'm not going to avoid going to New York because terrorists killed 3000 people there in 2001.
Get a grip man.
And while I'm ranting might I point out that until recently London was under constant attack by IRA terrorists who were largely bankrolled by American sympathisers.

I'm American, lived here over 20 years, the only problems I ever had in all that time was having my handbag nicked out of a shopping trolley in Waitrose in Chelsea. Oh, and dodging IRA bombs during the 80s and 90s.
Yeah, there are lots of Muslims in Britain. In the last census, 75% of people said they have a religion. 70% of people are Christian and like 2% are Muslim. I probably know hundreds of Muslims in London, all of them are secular. You see a lot of women wearing headscarves, but it is extremely rare to see a Muslim man wearing robes in public. I think in all my years here I have maybe seen one.
There is a very large number of Americans living in London and they all seem to like it better than the US in many ways.

It`s safe to travel TO London ,it`s safe to travel FROM London even for Americans.
Bomb threats everyday ?Someone is exagerating a bit ,our Police are taking lessons from your lot and shooting people whether they`re guilty or not so I think for the time being we`ll be safe from bombs in the UK.
But hey if you`re concerned stay away - one less Yank here has got to be a good thing LOL.
I think you`ll find that your country has the worst record for locals killing tourists of any "civilised" country ...

It's as safe to travel to London as it is any other major capital in the world. If you let your life be dictated by reports about possible bombs going off here and gun crime going off there then you'd never leave home. Get yourself to London, you'll have a fantastic time!!
