to keep us English (and so did many other countries). So why are some people hell bent on getting involved in Europe, giving our freedom away to a country we fought against? They obviously want to take the piss out of those who fought and lost their lives for our country, which makes me sick.

yes - alot of industry has been sold to the krauts - since they could not conquer militarily they are doing so economically - the only way to counter the krauts is to form a closer alliance with the united states - in war there are always compromises- e.g in WW 1 england and france had allied themselves together while a hundred years earlier had been bitter enemies in the time of napoleon. The elites that run england do not care about nationalism - just like the elites in most countries

Sorry sport, I don't think that those guys, which include my father and grandfather, fought to 'keep Britain English' ( you're choice of words ).

I do understand your sentiments, but for me the whole point of a 'United Europe', of which I have been an ardent supporter all of my life, was primarily to avoid the possibility of the carnage of the the 20th century repeating itself. Without the political, and terratorial divisions it is just that bit more difficult for one country to even start to justify invasion.

Your remarks seem to be primarily aimed at the German people, and I certainly understand, but try to look at it this way, there are practically none of those Germans left alive today, almost all of the population of the united Germany are young people with little understanding of how Hitler and his cronies rose to power. We cannot hold them responsible for what happened nearly 70 years ago, anymore than you would expect to be hauled up for judgement for something your dad, or grandpa, did.

I believe that eventually a United Europe will stand as a monument to everything that those brave people you obviously, and rightfully, revere stood up for.
