Why do I put myself through the misery of being a cubbie fan?
This year, especially. The cubbies are looking good to compete, but I know they will fall apart around the all star break. At least The White Sox have won a World Series recently. Should I become a White Sox fan?

I don't understand why anyone would be a cubs fan in the first place.

I could never quite comprehend this, but it seems baseball fans in Chicago are basically split between the Cubbies and the WhiteSox. I don't know why - it would make sense for someone to be a baseball fan and be a fan of both teams.

Having said that, if you can be that easily swayed from being a Cubbies fan then you must not have been much of a Cubbies fan to begin with. (I often ask people "If you knew your favorite team would never win a WS would that make you want to stop following your team?" )

I really cannot answer that question for you. If it were me I would be faithful to the Cubbies whether they win or not.

And this year, with the addition of Soriano and others, as well as Lou Pinella as mgr, they are looking to be in excellent shape. I'll be keeping my eye on them this season.

The WhiteSox, on the other hand, look like they are going to be taking a step backwards.

Part of being a baseball fan is the delicate balance between logic and emotion.

If it were me in your shoes I would stay with the Cubbies. I hope there is room for you on the bandwagon when you want to jump back on.

Nobody likes bandwagon fans.

Better yet, no one likes a fairweather fan. Sticking with your team when they are losing gives you character. Let's just say you have A LOT of character ha.

Seriously though, a true fan sticks by their team no matter what. You're luck, you start throwing out the Cubbie gear in exchange for the White Sox gear.....and the Cubbies probably will win the World Series this year hahah.

I live in the Chicago area and I'm a fan of a REAL baseball team The St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals have won 10 World Series more than the white sox and cubs put together.
They have the second most World Series wins in all of baseball.
They have a very rich history of the best players to ever play the game. You know like Stan the Man,, Ozzie Smith, Bob Gibson,Chris Carpenter, Albert Pujlos and let's not forget the gift the cubbies give us like Lou Brook, to name a few.
Oh yeah and we did win last years World Series if you do remember. The Cardinal fans have also been voted the best fans in all of baseball year after year.
So why switch from one loser to another ? Go Cardinals.

here are some reasons why u should not be a sox fan:

1. sox fans are drug dealers and hookers (we as americans do not like ppl like that so basically sox fans are anti-american)
2. US Cellular Field (the name speaks for itself)
3. Ozzie Gullien (wtf did he just say??)
4. Uribe (name was in a murder case)
5. south side chicago
6. the sox played the worst team in the playoffs for the world series, the astros
7. Barrett should basically be god
8. sox fans are probably 30% fair weather fans
9. sox fans bicker at us about the new under armour sign at wrigley, but have u seen how many f-ing advertisements there are at the "cell"
10. Jermain Dye is really a woman
11, Bobby Jenks, hes huge in a bad, unhealthy way...do we really want an overweight slob to be role model for our children?
12. the white sox...i dont think id ever be proud to have that as a team name
13. THE CUBS ARE CHICAGOS TEAM
14. did u know that the white sox have bring your dog to the park day to draw fans?

dont be a fair weather fan, and always remember this "All things come to him who waits"

Just by considering it, you are no longer welcome in the Cubs army of champions. Go ahead, become a White Sox fan. Lets see how well a team of 35 year olds does this year.

Whatever happened to loyalty to a team, even if your team loses a 100 games, you still talk smack to your buddies about your team is going to win it all next year....

Wouldn't you be excited to see what the Cubs can do this year...? There has to be something to be excited about, signing Soriano, Lilly, Marquis, locking up Aramis Ramirez, a healthy Derrek Lee....

Listen up "I'm so good I scare myself" why would you even think of doing such a thing? For one thing... There are those here that absolutely hate the White Sox (no names mentioned) and would never let you have a moments rest if you were rooting for them. Keep the faith my good man and everything will work out.
