I agree with most of the previous answer. Obviously you'll need the Picadilly line east into the city but I think getting off at Russell Square Tube Station is a closer walk to the museum than from Holborn. Turn left out of the Russell Square Tube station and through the square. You will see signs and there will be a station manager to ask for directions from if you miss the signs. Only a 5-10 minute walk from the station to the museum. The whole trip will likely take about an hour.

catch underground trains
heathrow get on piccadilly line (blue one) but you have no other underground option at heathrow, travel down holborn get out and its sign posted, about 5 min walk
underground will take about 40 mins
