I don't know, I was on the floor of the Senate at the time...

Passed out in my underpants.

The president of the US is not elected by popular vote. Many times in history, like JFK and both times with Clinton, a president wins withou a majority vote. The electoral college ensures that large popluation areas can not have more power than smaller states. It prevents states with less population from having no say.
So, the old argument that Gore really won is actually false. Even with Florida, he still lost. No evidence has ever been shown that any recount would have changed anything. Most of the fraud was in Democratic districts anyway. And, Bush did win the popular vote the second time.

I still thank God each and every day that Al Gore was not elected.

The "war on terror" would look very different if he were President. The war would be on our soil, with our children dying instead of on terrorist soil with our brave soldiers protecting us.

It is plausable that our country would no longer exist, that the terroist would have already won if the liberals had been callling the shots.

The world a better place? No way. After the Muslims destroyed America they would be out to kill all Jews (the main reason they want to destroy the US) and there would be no power left to stop them. The world would be thrown back into the dark ages.

I am so sick and tired of hearing about Al Gore! Who even cares. The guy in my opinion is a doorknob, why aren't the demo's more concerned with those running right now? They are happy with their choices right now? I don't hear much about Hillary or Obama as much as Gore, seems to say something!

I have wondered about how a President Gore might have responded to 9/11. I think he would have gone after al Qaeda and bin Laden in Afghanistan. But instead of declaring a global war on terrorism, perhaps he would have used the sentiment of 9/11 to point out how our dependence on foreign oil makes us hostages to middle east politics and how we need to attain energy independence. Instead of $200 billion fighting Iraq, imagine what that money would do if devoted to alternative energy?

I'm impressed by everyone's ability to read a hypothetical future. Please tell me how to get this power.

The truth is that not one of you can know if Al Gore would be "better" or "worse"...what ever the ruler is that you use to measure.

Of this future there is only one likely fact, and that would be that we most likely would not be in Iraq right now. Every thing else is ignorant guess work and politically biased ranting.

Gore would not have prevented 9/11, but he would not have ventured into Iraq either. He would have caught Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan by avoiding the distraction of Iraq.

Gore would have continued the negotiations with North Korea that were started under Clinton, so North Korea would not have nuclear weapons today.

The Senate would have ratified the Kyoto Treaty by now had Gore taken office in 2001. We would be much closer to finding a solution to global warming.

Without the expense of the war in Iraq and Bush's tax-giveaways to the wealthy, the United States government would not have huge deficits to worry about. The economic situtation of the country would be much more solid. There would be less unemployment.

Without Bush's efforts to privatize Social Security, that important social program would be in better shape than it is. At the very least, it would be no worse than it is today.

Seniors would enjoy lower drug prices under Gore than under Bush. Gore would have allowed Medicare officials to negotiate low prices with drug companies.

Tjhe victims of the Katrina hurricane would not have been neglected by Al Gore.

By avoiding the Iraq war, the United States would still enjoy the respect and admiration of the world it once had. We would have more friends and fewer enemies.

Gore would have funded "No Child Left Behind" and it would begin to be a reality.

Gore would not have torn up the Constitution, imprisoned supposed enemies without charge, or spied on American citizens. Everyone would have more freedom than under Bush.

The war in Iraq has increased the terrorist threat. By avoiding this war, Gore would have lowered the threat of terrorism. Resources would have been channeled into more useful programs, and fewer people would hate us.

Again, without the distraction of Iraq, Gore would have been able to devote time and resources to other pressing issues, including HIV/AIDS in Africa, relationships with Latin America, the struggle against increased drug consumption, human rights in Darfur, Third World debt, and immigration (among other things.)

Yes, the United States would be much better today had Al Gore moved into the White House in January, 2001, instead of George Bush.

I find it amazing that so many people feel any Democrat would have been soft on terror. It is just a talking point of the Republican party.

Democrats want to protect our freedoms just as much as the other guy. To say that Al Gore would have turned the other cheek is just a lie.

President Clinton prosecuted those responsible for the 1st WTC attack, and they are currently in prison. Where is Bin Laden?

President Clinton attacked those responsible for the attacks on the African Embassies, yet was accused of wagging the dog. So he backed off.

The right is so wrong. When are people going to get their heads out of the sand?

Oh and by the way, yes, it would have been better if Gore was President.

Just look at what became of Al Gore. The guy is promoting a fictional book as if it were fact! The idea that man has caused global warming is ludicrous.

The only reason Gore is promoting his book is so that he can effect laws that control the USA. No other reason.

His film has an animation of Polar bears drowning..oh yeah..now thats a "real" documentary. Just make a cartoon of whatever you want to convey and assholes in Hollywood will give you an academy award for it.

The answer is a resounding THANK GOD Gore lost!!!
