I have an Oreck vacuum cleaner and it works well picking up cat hair on my carpets and laminate in the kitchen. It can also be used on wood and tile floors without scratching the floor. They are lightweight, also, with a strong motor.

Vacuum cleaners are not good for wood and tile floors, since the beater bar can damage the floor. There is a cordless rechargeable vacuum made by shark that works well for picking up dog hair on all floor surfaces. The beater bar does not turn as quickly as an electric vacuum so it does not damage the flooring.

i've got not got the RoboMaid yet ..... I comprehend it fairly isn't any longer laptop programmed yet basically random bumping around till all surfaces are sparkling. if it rather is the case, and the device operates randomly, then i does no longer recommend spending money on it. I had a swimming pool vacuum that operated that way. I had my determination of two cleaners, one replaced into laptop programmed to get all floor surfaces and the different basically bumped randomly against the facets. I went with the random bumping purifier because of the fact it replaced into $3 hundred greater low fee. What a mistake. now and back this vacuum could "bump" approximately on the pool floor for hours and omit a million/2 the pool floor. It had no experience of direction, basically bumped off the facets and a great sort of times wiped sparkling the comparable spot persistently. Hours later and that i had to get out the handbook vacuum and do it myself. i got here upon I did a greater advantageous interest and speedier than any device. now and back there is not any replace for people. I also have a heavy canister-type vacuum purifier which i admire, yet I vacuum my hardwoods the different day and that i hate dragging that element out. i presumed a pair of stick vacuum purifier yet have not got here upon any that has good adequate comments on battery existence to take a place. I even have approximately 1500 sq. ft on my first point that could require vacuuming and that i do no longer think of the battery could final. that is stressful - undergo in thoughts the dirt Buster?

Dyson makes the dc17 animal which is great for pet hair. It is also designed for easy transition from carpets to hard floor. Won't damage wood or tile floors. There's a full write up at http://vacuum-better.com/dyson-dc17-review.php

The Roomba (a robotic vacuum) is a great choice for people with pets...and has the bonus of turning it on and letting it go...while you're at work, etc. Like any good vacuum cleaner, it's pricey, but no bags to buy, and no heavy thing to lug around!

I couldn't live without my Rainbow! Best I have ever used on carpets and wood floors and linoleum floors and tile floors, especially with dog and cat fur...very expensive but worth every penny...but even better on wood and tile floors is a dry head Swiffer Mop! I love mine terribly!!

A commercial vacuum is the best to buy. You will have to find a store that sells them. Not a department store. They will cost about 200.00 to 250.00 but are worth every penny. Buy a bagless that is easily emptied and you don't have to buy bags all the time. As far as a name brand let the store help you with that.
Good Luck.
